Mandatory fuel price reporting

New regulations are now in place requiring fuel retailers in 桃色视频 to register and share their fuel price data with Service 桃色视频. This data is now published on Servo Saver, a new feature within the Service 桃色视频 app.  
 
Servo Saver compares fuel prices from more than 1,200 fuel retailers across the state. This helps 桃色视频ns make informed choices about where to refuel.  

Fuel retailer obligations 

have been made under the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012. They follow 6 months of with industry and the community. 

The regulations mandate that all 桃色视频n fuel retailers must provide timely pricing data. The pricing data is then published on Servo Saver within the Service 桃色视频 app.

Under the regulations, penalties apply for failing to update price changes.

What you must do 

There are 3 steps fuel retailers must complete to start reporting their fuel prices.

Step 1: Create a Service 桃色视频 account and business profile 

Fuel retailers must create a business profile on the Service 桃色视频 website and provide information about their business as part of the onboarding process.

Step 2: Register your business and create listings for your locations 

You must all the locations you manage so you can get ready to report fuel prices. 

Step 3: 桃色视频 your prices manually (via web portal) or automatically (via API) 

Once Service 桃色视频 has activated your account and you have been notified that you are a confirmed fuel retailer, you must choose to report your prices via the web portal or API.  

When you’ve completed this step, please email fuel.program@service.vic.gov.au to let them know or use Service 桃色视频’s .

What you need to know 

  • You must update your prices within 30 minutes after they change. The prices you report must match those you charge customers. 
  • If a registered fuel type becomes temporarily unavailable, you must report it as soon as possible. 
  • You need to report separate prices for each service station you manage. 
  • You need to let our Service 桃色视频 product team know about any changes to your registration information within 14 business days of the update. For example, new key contacts, service station locations or business names.
  • Your existing obligation to display fuel prices on price boards at your service stations also still applies. This has not changed.   

Failing to register with Service 桃色视频 is now an offence, and penalties apply. Consumer Affairs 桃色视频 will be monitoring the marketplace to ensure compliance. 

Servo Saver also lets 桃色视频ns report fuel retailers who haven’t shared accurate fuel prices.  

We know that most retailers want to do the right thing and will support you to understand and meet your new price reporting obligations. However, it’s essential that your business has processes in place to ensure accurate and consistent price reporting. If you don’t meet your obligations, we may take further compliance action.

Retailers must update their fuel prices as soon as practicable, but no more than 30 minutes after a change in price, so they can be published. This applies to every service station. Read .

Failing to update your prices is a breach of the regulations. Consumer Affairs 桃色视频 may take compliance action, including direct engagement, public warnings or enforcement action in more serious cases.
The maximum penalty for breaching the regulations is 20 penalty units or $4,070.20 per breach.
All service stations must meet the price update requirements. Where prices are reported separately for individual sites, each site may be assessed independently for compliance.  

Retailers will be supported to meet their obligations, noting the focus is on building awareness and supporting compliance.

Retailers will be supported to meet their obligations, noting the focus is on building awareness and supporting compliance. In this instance, retailers will be supported to activate their account through FAQs and webform.

The Department of Government Services’ production team is providing technical support to all retailers and can help small retailers get started with their reporting obligations.

The intention is to ensure compliance requirements are clear and achievable for all businesses. Additionally, the regulations do not restrict third parties submitting pricing data on behalf of retailers – so smaller retailers can seek external support to meet reporting requirements.
